LESSONS

A bit about Tugce's teaching experience:

Tugce Bryant's experience as an intercultural and international musician and as a teacher enables her to collaborate with people from varying backgrounds. She strives to tailor each student's experience, facilitating progression, and learning at the individual level.

During her master studies between 2010-2012, she has had the opportunity to teach as an assistant teacher in the award-winning South Georgia String Project (SGSP), an after-school music program where public school-aged children have access to low-cost string instrument lessons. In SGSP she instructed a diverse group of children where she conducted orchestras, assisted with the Valdosta Youth Orchestra, taught group and private lessons, and organized parts using a technique called Differentiated Learning. A concept that calls for molding the curriculum to the student.

Apart from her classroom teaching experience, Tugce has had a private teaching studio for the past 13 years.

Throughout her teaching career, Tugce's focus has been centered around cultivating the students’ interest by awakening a sense of music appreciation while teaching them the technical skills of playing an instrument. She strongly believes in teaching in an active and cooperative learning environment where music lessons not only teach students the curriculum and the repertoire but also teach them relative information that provides them with a complete concept of music.

In July 2018, Tugce served as the cello clinician at Hawaii Youth Symphony's summer program, the Pacific Music Institute, where she taught cello sectionals, addressed large ensemble repertoire, and helped students develop technical and musical proficiency.

Founder of Cello Academy Hawaii, Tugce Bryant teaches at her home studio in Ewa Beach, out of Red Hill Elementary School in Honolulu and at the Musicians Union on Kapiolani Blvd. She also serves as the Orchestra Teacher of the after-school strings program at Red Hill Elementary School, teaching violin, viola, and cello to grades 3 through 6.
